The (Springfield) Republican newspaper will be publishing it newest volume in their Ethnic Heritage Book Series this Fall with the printed volume available by late November 2017. Following the format of the previous volumes, this latest volume explores the history of the Polish-American Community of Western Massachusetts.
Co-editors Wayne E. Phaneuf (Executive Editor of The Republican) and Joseph Carvalho III (retired Exec. Director of the Springfield Museums) are assembling a group of authors and contributors who are writing articles and submitting photographs for publication in the book. Phaneuf and Carvalho would like to include material from as many historical research repositories, Historical Societies, and individuals who have materials related to this topic.
If anyone has any photographs of early Polish immigrant families, organizations, businesses, farms, military service personnel, etc. that they would be interested in having us publish in the book, please contact the project team at: wphaneuf@repub.com and joecar123@comcast.net .
They will need captions for each photo at least 300 dpi quality digital images, and attribution information so that each photo is credited to the institution or individual allowing it’s use for publication in the book. They will need these by the end of July 2017. (Images can be scanned at the newspaper if the loaning individual or institution does not have that capability).
