May 24, 2018: Letter from Stanley Schmidt, Past President of the Polish Genealogical Society of America:
Dear Researcher,
The internet Polish Genealogical Source site was developed with the researcher in mind. For example, The Illustrated Geographic Atlas of the Kingdom of Poland (1907) was digitized with an index added that indicates its name in 1907 and what it is called today. The maps show the smallest villages in that period.
The Polonia (Polish diaspora – ed.) Index provides genealogical data inputs submitted for your Polish ancestors, from anywhere in the world, into one comprehensive index and common associated trees. (See the information at http://www.ipgs.us/poloniaindex/patilist0.html)
We believe this approach will help bring families with Polish descendants together to communicate with each other, no matter where they live. You can send electronic copies of the ancestor/family trees (pedigree charts) of your current genealogical data for your Polish deceased parents or grandparents for processing to webmaster@ipgs.us — or a paper copy to: Schmidt, 106 Hill Street, Roselle, IL 60172.
Any update to your genealogical record can only be made by what you send to the site manager.
Hoping you will submit your family tree to build this database to benefit all of Polonia.
Thank you,
Stan Schmidt
