Join the PGSMA for its 30th Anniversary Lunch and Learn. This Saturday event will feature two wonderful speakers (Coleen Fitzpatrick and Daniel Bucko), a Polish luncheon catered by Munich Haus, a raffle, plenty of opportunities for questions and answers and meeting your fellow attendees.

Speaker: Colleen Fitzpatrick, PhD: “DNA Results: What Can I Do With Them?”

In her talk, Colleen will review how you can use your DNA results to advance your genealogical research. Some of the tools she will explore with us include:

• Gedmatch Genesis – The Basics
• The Shared cM Project
• DNA Painter

Speaker: Daniel Bućko, Genealogist based in Poland : “Polish Vital Records and How Best to Find Them”

In his presentation delivered via Skype, Daniel will provide a comprehensive overview of how to locate records in Poland that you need to grow your family tree. Topics covered will include:

• Overview of the main Polish State Archives for each region of Poland
• Overview of the Polish Diocesan Archives for each region of Poland
• On-line resources for each region of Poland
• Limitations or what is not available to a researcher at this time in Poland
• Parish Archives and how to get the records
• Polish Civil Registers and how to get the records

Due to limited seating and luncheon service, pre-registration for this event is required. Cost is $30 for PGSMA members and $40 for non-members.

Genealogy Indexer.org is a free website for searching over one million pages of historic European directories, secondary school reports, military documents, and more. This talk will provide an overview of the 1500-plus sources for Poland and how to search them. Containing many millions of personal names — often with towns, street addresses, and occupations, and sometimes with vital dates or patronymics — most of this data is not searchable elsewhere.

Logan Kleinwaks is the founder and director of Genealogy Indexer.org, which was one of Family Tree Magazine’s 101 Best Websites for 2015 and 2016.  He is the coordinator of JewishGen.org’s Danzig/Gdańsk SIG, served on the Board of GesherGalicia.org, and enjoys creating online genealogy research tools. He has a research background in physics.

Four Part Genealogy Class in Chicopee, MA: “Genealogy for Beginners”

The Polish Genealogical Society of Massachusetts is sponsoring a series of classes entitled “Genealogy for Beginners” at the Polish Center for Discovery and Learning, South Street, Chicopee. MA.  The classes will take place for 10:00 a.m to 11:30 a.m for four consecutive Tuesdays beginnign October 24th.  The presenter is Hillary Schau, a Professional Genealogist from Western Massachusetts.
